Why Podcasts Are the Wave of the Future

Do you listen to any podcasts?  In a 2017 Edison Research study, 24 percent of Americans have listened to a podcast within the last month.

That’s a lot of people tuning in to listen to their favorite shows, like Success Profiles Radio with Brian Wright, Growth Now Movement with Justin Schenck or Wings of Inspired Business by Melinda Wittstock just to name a few.

Podcasts are online radio shows that have become the medium of choice for many listeners.

Podcasts have become a platform that makes it easy for the consumer to choose what they want to listen to, when they want to listen to it, wherever they are located and on any device they choose to listen to it on.

    Here’s how it works:

    1. Pick your topic.

There is no shortage of podcasts to listen to in any area you want to learn more about or just for entertainment purposes.

According to Apple in a MacWorld interview, there are over 250,000 shows in their directory.

Whether you like listening to crime mystery shows, talk shows, business shows, comedy shows, ect. there is a category for anyone to listen to.

Actually, there are over 100 different categories of shows for consumers to find their perfect match of what they want to listen to.

    2. Decide your time.

Unlike traditional programming like television or radio that have a scheduled viewing time, podcasts run on your schedule.

Some shows run once a week, twice a week or seven days a week and they all vary in length.

Once the episode is released, they can be streamed or downloaded at your convenience to listen to whenever you want.

    3. Choose your location (or not).

Podcasts have become the perfect medium for people who are always on the go with their easy portability and rich content available.

Podcasts are an easy to consume medium when one is commuting, working out at the gym, walking the dog, shopping for food or making dinner.

One can take it with them wherever they go and don’t have to sit and read or watch it, just listen.

“I’m excited that podcasts provide the ability to have a more intimate relationship that any other type of medium out there,” says top iTunes host of the Create Your Own Life Podcast, Jeremy Ryan Slate, “Listeners take you with them on trips or out running errands.  They get to grow because of you.  You become such a part of your listeners lives and I’m happy to be part of this movement.

    4. Select your device.

The 2017 Edison Research study found that 69 percent of people listen to podcasts on their smartphone, tablet or other portable device.

If you wish to listen to them on your computer, you can do that too!

With new voice activated devices like Amazon Alexa and Google Home, it makes listening to podcasts all the more accessible.

Speech technology is quickly becoming a rival to traditional based web search and it’s the perfect platform for podcasts.

To listen to your favorite podcast, you can just say something like, “Alexa, play my latest podcast,” and you’re off listening to your favorite show. How to listen in:

If you’re not one of the 112 million Americans who have listened to a podcast according to Jay Baer of the Convince & Convert, now is the time to check out podcasts.

Download the app for iTunes, Stitcher or iHeart Radio and start searching the podcasts.

Whether you want to learn a new skill or just listen to an entertaining comedy show, dive in and give it a listen!
