Changes That Improved My Lifestyle

    Most people race against time. If you truly want to be the best version of yourself and savor the best of life, you should learn how to race ‘along’ time. In other words, if you cannot get rid of the discontent and feel as if time is slipping through your fingers like sand, you need to reorganize your life and implement new habits. The beauty of it lies in the fact that these habits can be anything that fills your time with meaning. If you are interested in what can help you rediscover meaning and purpose, here are practices that changed my life.

    Daily practices

    They say rituals are spirituality anchored in reality. Whether you are an atheist or a believer (of any denomination), it’s hard to argue against the fact that rituals truly have life-transforming qualities. They can change the way we think, reroute our synapses and create new neural connections. If your small daily routines can help you become a better version of yourself, then why not practice them? Due to vanity or cynicism? This was actually my own line of thinking before I implemented some of the small habits that improved my life in every way.

    For example, I’ve moved my alarm clock to a table that forces me to get out of bed in order to turn it off. I never hit the snooze button and go back to bed; instead, I put on upbeat music and look at myself in the mirror. As I look at my own face, I think only positive thoughts and emotions before I proceed to do my morning stretching.

    Before I go to bed, I cleanse my brain of all the downsides, pet peeves and negative thoughts, and proceed to think about all the things that I have, instead of the things I do not. It’s what can easily be described as glass half full bedroom thinking. Therefore, every night I lay my

    Yoga

    Yoga is not a sport – it is a state of being. You’ll need a few serious classes if you want to become disciplined and turn yoga into a daily practice, but once you do, the positive effects of it on your body become staggering. You will feel a lot stronger and more focused. You will definitely feel lighter in every conceivable way – mentally and physically. Yoga will reshape your body and make it appear more desirable, no matter how you are built.

    Above all else, yoga sessions are the time when you are truly in touch with your body and your mind. You will break through tedious thought patterns and find peace in the present moment. This will turn into a truly useful tool for creative ideas and problem solving.

    Hypnotherapy

    In order to truly change your life, you’ll need to get out of your comfort zone. The old saying goes – you’ll have to break a few eggs to make an omelet – and it applies to your habits too. In other words, in order to be the best version of yourself, you have to be open to new ideas and look for new fields of interests or tools that can help you improve yourself.

    This is why I decided to try a few sessions of hypnotherapy in Sydney and see if it can help me get rid of some habits that clung to me like chronic diseases, and it actually showed astounding results. In addition, it can help you improve your sleep and deal with learning disorders. It can be really hard to admit to yourself that you could find a few communication and self-help classes (or hypnotherapy) useful because it would be like admitting you are not up to the task, but getting over such lines of thinking and trying out new things can really change your perspective.

     

     

    Reading

    Humanity thrives on stories – especially the ones worth telling. Life itself is one big story and, even though it ends on a somber note, its genre throughout is your own choice. This is why it is important to keep reading – because by doing so, you’ll be living thousands of lives over the course of a single life span.

    It is truly an ennobling habit that can turn you into a person who is better attuned to the world – as long as you never stop. People fall in love with reading and then they tend to forget about it as other habits squeeze their way into their lives. However, as long as you read every night – no matter the genre or the quality of the material – you’ll always be on that exciting quest for true wisdom hidden between the lines. It is a journey without destination, and that lesson in and of itself can make you feel resolved about the fleeting nature of life.

    Fitness

    Daily exercise is crucial for the overall state of being. The very essence of life is movement, so as long as you keep moving, you should be on the right track. If you are completely out of shape, begin your fitness practices by walking every night for an hour or two. If you have an eager companion who can join you, you’ll be better for it. After the first month, slowly introduce jogging segments into your walking sessions.

    If you hit the gym, know you’ll be doing it not only for the betterment of your body, but your mind too. Coupled with yoga, these fitness practices will make you feel sharper and more “awake” every day. In time, this will help you increase your performance when it comes to work duties and personal obligations, and as you become more efficient, you’ll have more free time on your hands to introduce new life-changing practices into your life.

     

    No matter what your designated practices are, it is important to stay consistent and repeat them every day. Only through repetition will they turn into habits – and this is your ultimate goal. If you decide to be truly honest with yourself, you will pick and choose only the activities that are actually worth your time and which can truly fill your hours with meaning. When you finally arrange them on your daily schedule, they will not change your life immediately, but they will put you on the right path.
