    The Holidays are fast approaching, so why not have some fun with the family?

    We’ve collected a list of free and low cost events that will have you in the Holiday Spirit in no time!

     

    #5.  Winter Wonderland – Rahway

    Fri Nov 25, 2016

    12:00pm to 6:00pm

    Admission – Free

    City Hall, Downtown Rahway.

    This is a family oriented event with pictures with Santa, outdoor ice skating, carriage rides, bonfires and plenty of food and drink.  There will also be many other activities throughout the downtown area.  The Annual Parade and Tree Lighting will start at 6 p.m.  Last year’s event drew a crowd of over 10,000 children and adults throughout Union County!

    Admission – free

    Looking for some unique and hand crafted gifts?   The 33rd Annual Holiday Nature Craft Show at Trailside Nature and Science Center in Mountainside has gifts galore!  This event also features a tree & menorah lighting.

    #3.  Summit Snowflake Stroll  – Summit

    6 p.m. – 9 p.m.

    Free

    Find the elf walking through downtown during the event to get your Snowflake Dollars!  Snowflake Dollars can be spent like cash at Summit downtown businesses.  There’s a Hospitality Center, hot chocolate, a photo booth and after you shop for your holiday needs – complimentary gift wrapping, courtesy of the Summit Educational Foundation.  The Summit YMCA will also be offering FREE babysitting from 5:30 – 9:30 pm (registration is required), so you can shop and dine all of the wonderful spots around town.  Most stores will be open late and will be offering discounts, special sales and in-store events.

    #2.  Holiday Horse and Carriage Rides – Summit

    December 16 – 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

    Free

    Take a Horse and Carriage Ride though downtown Summit.  Enjoy the lights, window displays and take a break from the Holiday Chaos!

    Boarding Location:
    Lyric Park, at the corner of Bank Street and Beechwood Road.

    Get there early!  The rides fill up quick!

     

    #1.  It’s a Wonderful Life – UCPAC, Hamilton Stage – Rahway

    Tickets $20 each

    Every time a bell rings, an Angel gets their wings!  Take this opportunity to see a wonderful show for a wonderful price…the nonprofit UCPAC organization offers many shows throughout the year – but this one is sure to steal your heart.  The heartwarming story of George Bailey who wishes he had never been born…but when his Angel, Clarence, shows him how many lives he impacted, he changes his tune.  This Holiday Classic is only featured from December 16 – 18.  So get tickets early…it’ll be a sell out, for sure!
