Set The Scene: 5 Tips For Creating A Romantic Date Night At Home

Having a date night out on the town is a great way to keep your relationship fresh and exciting, but it’s not the only way to do so. Sometimes, staying in is a better option, especially in this day of COVID-19 uncertainty.

You can plan a night in with your honey that’s fun, intimate, and possibly even more exciting than any old movie theater could ever be. Being alone with your partner also fosters a closer relationship and allows you to save money at the same time. All you need to do is follow the tips below to create a romantic date night at home.

    1. Set the Mood

To create the perfect atmosphere for a romantic date night, you need to make sure everything is just right. Dim the lighting, fire up an aroma diffuser with a relaxing scent, and put on some soft music to set the mood.

Since the evening is all about the two of you, try to remove as much distraction as possible for a few hours. Put your phones away, turn off the TV, and focus on each other. You’ll be surprised at the quality of your conversation when you don’t have anything else vying for your attention.

    2. Slip into Something Comfortable

Sure, getting dressed up and hitting the town is fun, but there’s something to be said for staying in and getting comfortable. For the most romantic and comfy night in, put on your best PJs and see where the night takes you.

    3. Give Your Date Night a Theme

At the mention of date night, thoughts of lounging on the couch with Netflix often come to mind. While this is a perfectly fine option, the everyday nature of Netflix and chill can make it feel less and less like a real date. If this is where you’re at, take your home date to the next level by giving it a theme.

For example, if movies are your thing, turn the lights off and turn on some horror flicks. If you and your partner are the competitive types, grab a few board games and see who comes out on top. Or show off your baking skills with a cookie baking and decorating night.

    4. Don’t Forget to Take Photos

It’s common for people to snap photos when they’re out and about, but most of us forget to do so if we’re just hanging around the house. While your at-home date night is playing out, take some candid shots of the two of you cooking in the kitchen or of your partner when they least expect it. You’ll enjoy looking at these photos later on and cherish them just as much as the action-filled ones you take when you’re out and about.

    5. Try Something New

Couples, especially those who have been together for a long time, often find themselves stuck in a rut. One of the easiest and most fun ways to get out of that rut is to try something new together. Whether it’s cooking a meal you’ve never tried before or getting creative in the bedroom, trying something new allows you to bond over the act and break the routine.

Whether you’re a new couple or one that’s been together for some time, date nights are important. However, going out on the town together isn’t always feasible. Staying in is always an option, and by following the tips above, you can create a romantic date night at home that’s fun, exciting, and intimate – the perfect way to reconnect and enjoy each other’s company on a deeper level.
