Remember when it was embarrassing to like country music? Me too! But not anymore… Country music is becoming a genre most listened to with a huge cult following! Is the acoustic tunes? Is it the song lyrics? I think it is a little bit of both the country and rock & roll vibe. Now these famous country crooners and headlining hit songs are not only climbing the charts, but they are staying on everyone’s playlist!
- H.O.L.Y (Florida Georgia Line)
The American country music duo Brian Kelley and Taylor Hubbard became one of the most successful breakout country music acts of the year in 2010. In 2012, they signed with Republic Nashville which is part of the Big Machine Label Group. Their single H.O.L.Y is a love song and has a worship song feel to it.
- Somewhere on a Beach ( Dierks Bentley)
Country music singer/songwriter, Dierks Bentley has been signed with Capitol Nashville since 2013. In the same year he released his debut album catapulting him into mainstream fame. This song almost tells a story where the narrator is talking to his ex-girlfriend about how his life went after they broke up. He sings about how he is somewhere on a beach with his new girlfriend.
- Think of You ( Chris Young Duet With Cassadee Pope )
Chris Young is an American country music singer/songwriter who was declared the winner of the television show Nashville Star. Cassadee Pope was the lead singer of the pop punk band Hey Monday, who later embarked on a solo career. They sang this song as a duet which chronicles the break-up of couple who was once great and is now adjusting to the awkwardness of being on your own.
- Humble and Kind ( Tim McGraw )
Tim Mcgraw has done quite well in his career as a singer/songwriter. He has released 14 albums with 10 of them reaching the Number 1 spot on the top country albums chart. Written by Lori Mcgraw, this song has a universal message encouraging everyone to always stay humble and kind.
- Huntin’, Fishin’ & Lovin’ Every Day ( Luke Bryan )
Luke Bryan first began his career writing songs for his longtime friends from high school. Later he released his own album and soon signed with Capitol Nashville. This song was written for Luke’s 5th studio album and was the album’s 4th official single released.
- Snapback ( Old Dominion )
Old Dominion is a 5 member American country music band formed in Nashville. The band released their first self-titled album in 2014 and another in 2015, which included a number 1 single. This song was released in 2016 and is marked by tight phrasing, sharp harmonies, and sneaky high harmonies.
- T-Shirt ( Thomas Rhett )
Thomas Rhett has produced many hit singles throughout his career. In addition to all of his own songs, he also wrote songs for Jason Aldean, Florid Georgia Line, and Lee Brice. This song is the 3rd single from his 2nd studio album. It is about the girl you are dating or have dated who used to wear your favorite t-shirt.
- Came Here to Forget ( Blake Shelton )
Blake Shelton first made his debut with the single known as “Austin.” The song spent 5 weeks as numbers 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. He is also known for being the judge on televised singing competitions such as Nashville Star, The Voice, and Clash of the Choirs. Came Here to Forget is a song he recorded for his 10th upcoming studio album which is where he gets very personal about his The Voice co-star and girlfriend Gwen Stefani.
- Die a Happy Man ( Thomas Rhett )
This song is another great hit from Thomas Rhett. The narrator in the song addresses his wife by saying that all he needs in his life is her love and that if she is all he has, he could “die a happy man.” The mood of the song is set as one to heat up any room.
- Mind Reader ( Dustin Lynch )
Dustin Lynch is singer/songwriter who has signed with Broken Bow Records. The song was released as the 3rd single from his 2nd studio album. The song should be rewarded as a strong seller and more nourishing than any other single since his debut.
Ultimately, the music a person listens tells a lot about their personality, but there is nothing to be embarrassed about when it comes to liking country. It is the music that tells a story- that everyone can relate to. Listen to what you love and embrace it! Clearly more people are starting to love country music, otherwise these songs wouldn’t be on the most played lists inspiring Country Nights around the region!
