How often did you wish you could, like Alex Mack, turn into a puddle of silvery goo and flow out of troubles and tricky situations? How often did you wish you too, could levitate and fly wherever you wanted to? The Secret World of Alex Mack took us on a (almost) magical and fantastical journey, and we were sad when the trip ended. We wonder where Alex is now or what became of her sister and friends.
Larisa Oleynik as Alexandra Louise “Alex” Mack
Larisa has been busy since wrapping up work on Alex Mack. She has starred in two more popular ‘90s TV shows—Boy Meets World and 3rd Rock From the Sun—and later in Malcolm in the Middle, Pretty Little Liars, Hawaii Five-O (the reboot), and Mad Men. In between, she has starred in several movies like 10 Things I Hate About You, Atlas Shrugged, The Baby-Sitters Club, Stolen From the Womb, an indie film OJ: The Musical, and a TV movie Remember Sunday. She has also provided voice on animated shows like Robot Chicken.
Darris Love as Raymond “Ray” Alvarado
Alex’s best friend too, has been busy after their hit show. Darris Love has starred in several more popular TV shows: Sister, Sister; CSI; Angel; ER; Shameless; Buffy the Vampire Slayer; and Without a Trace. He has appeared in a few movies and several music videos for Janet Jackson and Lil Wayne. He is the voice of Tupac Shakur in the widely successful and critically acclaimed biopic Straight Outta Compton.
He is also a partner in InstaFOODS International, a food technology venture in Boise that aims to provide healthy food to millions of poor and malnourished children and adults around the world through health care centers, school lunch programs, and feeding schemes.
Meredith Bishop as Anne “Annie” Mack
After playing Alex’s lovable and protective big sis, Meredith went on to act in several TV shows like Felicity, Nikki, Scrubs, and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. She has appeared in TV commercials for Jimmy Dean, Bud Light, and Pizza Hut and also starred in a movie Bed & Breakfast: Love is a Happy Accident and an indie thriller Klepto. Most recently, she has appeared in a Web series Speedie Date.
Michael Blakley as George Mack
Alex had superpowers, but in real life, it seems that Michael Blakley, her on-screen father, has done a magician’s act by disappearing completely from our radars. After Alex Mack, Michael appeared in a TV movie The Sky’s on Fire and in an episode of Pretty Little Liars.
Dorian Lopinto as Barbara Mack
Alex’s on-screen mother has not been very active on the acting front either. After Alex Mack, Dorian has acted in a few dramas—Cold Case and Strong Medicine—and in a few films like Ablaze, The Prophet’s Game, and Klepto. She has also acted in a Web series Flip and Glib … And the Theory of Everything.
Natanya Ross as Robyn Russo
Natanya played Alex’s friend, a girl with a mocking sense of humor that probably masked her lack of self-esteem. After Alex Mack, Natanya made only a couple of appearances in episodes of Beverly Hills, 90210, and Boston Public. She also acted in the film Bellyfruit before disappearing from the acting scene. She is, however, active on Instagram and is known to be involved with the Benson Christian Children’s Production Program.
Benjamin Kimball Smith as Louis Driscoll
After playing the loud-mouthed and annoyingly vocal Louis in Alex Mack, Benjamin has been laying low. He has made just a few screen appearances, most notably in Jerry Maguire, a TV movie Lansky, and a Web series The Road to Margaritaville.
It seems that most actors and actresses of Alex Mack have chosen to limit their acting appearances. But it is heartening to note that people like Darris Love and Natanya Ross are creating magic in other people’s lives. The cast of The Secret World of Alex Mack brought to life an imaginative plot, made it believable, and in the process, helped us transcend the ordinariness in our lives.
