How To Tell If He Is Boyfriend Material Or Husband Material

When it comes to relationships, I’m a firm believer in not pursuing a serious one with someone who you can’t seriously see yourself with.

While flings are fun, actually pouring your heart and soul into something knowing it has no future sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.

So, how do you do some damage control? You start by determining whether he’s Mr. Right or just Mr. Right Now.

Here’s how you tell if he’s boyfriend or husband material:

Does he support you?

In a relationship, not only should your significant other always be on your team, but they should be your head cheerleader. While someone who’s simply boyfriend material may only support you when it benefits them, somebody who’s husband material will have your back to the fullest, always and forever. Why? Because they’re in it for the long haul. Not only do they want to see you achieve your goals, but they also want to build and reach new ones with you.

Is he family-oriented?

Does he avoid being around yours or is he all about it? If your man could care less about spending time with your family, or bringing you around his, the chances are that not only is he not your soulmate, but he also isn’t trying ever to be your soulmate. When you marry someone, you aren’t just marrying them; you’re marrying their whole family. So, if you aren’t getting to know them now, keep in mind: nobody marries a stranger. Well, nobody sane at least…

Does he know what he wants?

While every girl hopes she can be the one to save the work-in-progress man that she sees potential in, we need to learn that you can’t save anyone who doesn’t want to save themselves. Standing by your guy while he tries his best to get to where he wants to be, is being a ride or die; standing by your guy while he’s all talk and no action, is just dumb. Know the difference. If he isn’t even planning for his own future, what are the chances he’s planning to be a part of yours?

Is he reliable?

Does he flake on you and not commit to plans, or does he do exactly what he says he’s going to? Although it’s interesting to keep your partner guessing at times, you should never have to guess when it comes to where you stand with them. Any man that’s husband material will be a man of his word, and will never leave you wondering worrying.

Do you have full trust in him?

Trust is one of the most important things in a relationship, so much so, that without it, you almost have nothing. While we may like to think that “love conquers all,” things aren’t always that cut and dry. Relationships take work, and both parties have to be willing to put that work in. Even through tough times and fights, you should have total confidence that he’ll remain faithful and work with you, not walk out on you.
