“What is the key to success?” is one of the most frequently asked questions by business owners in the entrepreneurial space. It is not a secret that 90 percent of those who start a business end up failing within five years. However, to be successful, you need to be disciplined, persistent, passionate and have the drive to work hard to accomplish your goals, plans, and objectives.
But, let’s be honest, you can have the biggest and brightest dreams of success through your business, but a lack of funding can often cripple a business, especially in its infancy. Lack of funding is one of the chief obstacles startups face in their journey to achieve success. Jason Greer understands this better than most.
The Start Of A Journey
When Jason Greer started his business in 2005, he had a vision of providing employment and labor relations services and offering diversity training. He wanted to help employers create better and more robust work environments for their managers and employees. His passion lay in the idea that he could assist companies in overcoming their external and internal challenges in every way possible. The problem was that he was nearly flat broke.
Additionally, Jason didn’t have a single client and had no idea how to attract clients because he didn’t have money for marketing of any kind. He was gripped with a constant fear of failure, but he knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that he could be successful if someone was willing to give him a chance.
Overcoming The Odds
Jason could not afford to fail. He did not have a financial lifeline, having left his career as a Board Agent with the National Labor Relations Board to start his company. Any little money that Jason had from his previous job was almost gone. Was he going to sit in a corner and cry over his limited prospects? Although Jason was gripped with fear at every turn, he refused to surrender to any notions of failure. He realized that failure was not an option, so he decided to get creative.
Jason started doing pro-bono work, which was tough in the beginning because he really needed a paycheck. But he was willing to work for free if it meant that he would have an opportunity to further his skill set while adding client testimonials to his arsenal. Jason just had to hold on long enough to break through the proverbial glass ceiling, and he did it. He did it big time.
Making A Name In The Industry
Today, Jason is among the Top 5% of employee and labor relations consultants in the country. Jason is the CEO of Greer Consulting, Inc. Through patience, passion, persistence, and hard work, Jason began disrupting the industry. His empathic approach, coupled with his knowledge of labor relations and counseling psychology, was unconventional in a positive way when compared to his peers. His approach was guided by the Employee Whisperer Methodology, by which he was able to gain a comprehensive understanding of the issues and challenges employees and managers face, from their perspective.
Jason was featured by Thrive Global as the Top Entrepreneur to Watch in 2020. Jason has also been featured on Forbes, Entrepreneur, Inc, Fox News, CBS, NBC, Bloomberg, LA Times, and others. He is also the author of the #1 Amazon Best Selling Book, “People Matter Most.” and the International Best Selling book, “Bias Racism & The Brain.”
Although he has achieved incredible success, it is the humility he experienced during his time of offering free consulting services, with less than $100 to his name, that has kept Jason grounded and grateful for every step of his journey.
