In exclusive B-roll and web video footage, F1® Movie star Damson Idris stars at Goodwood where he recreates one of the movie stunts in the real “APXGP” car across the track.
The footage includes both Damson and Irish co-star Kerry Condon giving their thoughts on what the overall experience was like to make the F1® Movie across all different racetracks around the world, on top of working with the likes of Brad Pitt.
About the movie F1® Movie
With just two months to go until the release of the F1® Movie, lead movie stars Damson Idris (Joshua Pearce) and Kerry Condon (Kate McKenna) reveal an inside look at one of the most ambitious racing films ever made. From filming on real Grand Prix circuits during the actual races to working closely with Brad Pitt and producer Sir Lewis Hamilton, both actors shared rare insights into the scale and intensity of the production ahead of the film release.
Both Damson Idris and Kerry reflect on how Brad Pitt as a legendary actor instilled a sense of humility while ‘making the movie better every step of the way.’ Damson Idris also opens up about his passion for Formula 1, reminiscing his binge-watching sessions of ‘Drive to Survive’ and his opportunity to connect with the drivers on a personal level. While Kerry reveals the thrill of filming and training on some of the world’s most iconic racetracks, noting how each race brought its own unique flavor.
As part of a major moment celebrating IWC Schaffhausen as official watch partner of the fictional team “APXGP” in the film, Damson Idris returned to the track at Goodwood members meeting for a live stunt featuring the actual Mercedes GT he drives in F1® Movie. The stunt was designed to mirror a key sequence from the film, providing an early look at just how fast paced and intense the racing in the movie really is as viewers watch.
Stunt driver Elliott Cole was behind the wheel of the APXGP car, used throughout the film, while Damon Idris — who performs most of his own driving in the F1 movie — joined on site to speak to the experience of training for the role and filming at real-world Grand Prix events across the world.
