Best Steakhouse Near Central Park

New Theory reviews Bobby Van’s CPS Steakhouse

Bobby Van’s Grill (CPS) is an American, European, Italian, Steakhouse. It is located on 40 Central Park South, a highly coveted location just steps away from the Plaza Hotel, and overlooking Central Park. Bobby Van’s Steakhouse has grown from its original home in Bridgehampton, NY, and now includes nine restaurants in New York and two in D.C. Just last year doors open in late March 2017 to its new addition Bobby Van’s on 40 Central Park South. You will experience the same excellent exquisitely prepared dining as its sister restaurants. Also, they have a special Saturday and Sunday brunch.

The Menu has a variety of prime beef like the New York Sirloin, Filet Mignon, and of course the famous Porterhouse Steak. And if you are not a steak person, there is also delicious fresh seafood like the Chilean Sea Bass, Crabcakes, Lobster, Shrimp Cocktails. Bobby Vans also has a wide variety of dining options outside of prime beef and seafood, including supremely-prepared pasta, wood-fired pizzas, and freshly tossed salads. To accompany the meal, diners have a choice of delicious sides, which include Mashed Potatoes, Cauliflower Carbonara, Thick Cut Applewood Bacon and Sautéed Mushroom.

We had the pleasure to meet Harry who was our host. He was very kind, and helpful. For starters, we had Crabcakes, Sesame Tuna, and the Lemon Pepper Shrimp. I’m a seafood lover, and let me tell you, these starters, were probably the top three I ever had. The Crabcake was so delicious!!!  Fantastic flavor and not too much breading/flour in the recipe. The tuna was excellent, I am not a big fan of tuna but this tuna was fresh, and the soy sauce on the side was delicious. The Lemon Pepper Shrimp was a 10 out of 10; I love lemon and shrimp, so this was a must try for me, and it was better than I expected.

For the Main dishes, we got the Porterhouse steak and Filet Mignon, with mashed potatoes, asparagus on the side. And the Lobster Fra Diavolo over pasta. The Porterhouse steak and Filet Mignon were so soft; it melts in your mouth. The knife cut right through, and the steak was so juicy, a must have if you are a steak lover like I am. The Mashed potatoes and asparagus were perfect as well. The Lobster Fra Diavolo was so divine! The pasta is so fresh, and you can taste it. The food is flavorful and rich.

We can not forget the drinks! I had a cocktail, it was delicious, I asked for something fruity and not too strong, and they did just that for me (kind of like a Pineapple Cosmo or something).  I loved it. My friend had an old-fashioned, it was excellent also as it wasn’t too strong.  Harry our host was extremely nice and shared many stories about the history of Bobby Vans.  He gave us two different bottles of wine to choose from, for our amazing dinner (we went the French over Italian).  The service was excellent, from the minute we walked in until we left, everyone was very kind and helpful. The atmosphere of the restaurant is lovely. You feel like you are in a more modern steakhouse, Bobby Vans in Central Park is just gorgeous. If you are from the area or plan to visit the area, then this restaurant is a must go to in your plans! Trust me you won’t regret it. Everything was amazing, and we will definitely be coming back for another great dinner.
