Local Entrepreneur Named Top Podcast to Follow in 2018

    According to Edison research, 112 million Americans listened to a podcast in 2017. Podcasting is one of the fastest growing mediums, with fans listening to 5 or more shows per week. Originally developed in 2009 by Dave Winer, and driven by evangelists like former MTV VJ, Adam Curry, is similar to Radio content that can be downloaded to a mobile device.

    The advances of the smartphone and mobile technology over the last 10 years, which according to Edison Research, has led to tripling in growth over that time period.

    In mid 2015, New Jersey native, Jeremy Ryan Slate, started the Create Your Own Life Podcast, seeing 10,000 downloads in its first 30 days. The purpose of the Create Your Own Life podcast is to help people break the chains of ordinary.  Slate studied at Oxford University and received his masters degree from Seton Hall University in 2011.

    Upon graduation, Slate took the next logical step, which was enter into the career he had just spent years of his life working towards.  After teaching high school for two years, he was miserable and resigned.

    In his time as the host of the podcast, Slate has interviewed individuals such as former NFL All-Pro Shawne Merriman, NY Times Bestselling Author Grant Cardone and media influencer Seth Godin. Slate also conducted a live interview at Stand Up NY Comedy Club with NY Times Bestselling author, James Altucher.

    In 2017 CIO Magazine, through its ADG Contributor Network, named Slate’s Create Your Own Life Podcast the # 14 show to follow. The 2018 Version of the same list saw Slate ranked # 2, alongside leaders like Tim Ferriss, Gary Vaynerchuk and Lewis Howes.

    The rise in ranking may be attributed to the growth of Slate’s show, now past 400 episodes and almost to a million downloads and the growth of his social media followings. Since starting the show, Slate’s Twitter following has grown past 21,000, as well as the coveted blue verified check mark, Instagram following has grown past 32,000 and and past 37,000 on Facebook.

    The podcasting notoriety has led to Slate, along with his wife Brielle co-founding Command Your Brand Media, new media firm focusing on Public Relations in the podcast industry. Slate is also keynoting the 2018 Outlier Podcast Festival, held in St. George, Utah on May 11th.
