International Women’s Day: A Few of Our Favorite Power Women

Ladies, it’s our day! Praise the power of the…female brain! Obviously.

535c065c-b930-4d8b-867f-bccf9d481154Throughout history, we have struggled to match up to society‘s pedestal that men seem to be propped up on. Now don’t get me wrong, a good percent of what I know about business and even life, has been taught to me by brilliant, creative, unique MEN… but let’s fast forward, it’s 2016 and we are way more than just the ones who stay home and clean the house. We are world leaders, CEO’s, Olympic champions, the faces of brands… we are strong, powerful, independent, ass-kicking females and we deserve to be credited for being f#%king awesome!

March 8th – International Woman’s Day.  Hell yeah. Am I right? I feel that it is imperative that we take a few minutes to reflect on how far we have come as a gender. I personally, am grateful for the amazing women who have influenced me to make power moves throughout my life – and not ever let anyone tell me that I can’t dominate in a ‘man’s world’.

Here are a few of our favorite women who inspire daily and set the tone for today’s female species:

    Michelle Obama

    Mo1

She may be the first lady to the most powerful man in the world, but she is no side show. Michelle proves over and over again that women can have their own voice and change the world for the better. An advocate for numerous charitable causes, she shows us that giving can go a long way.

    Meryl Streep

MS1What is not to love? She is never sorry for being proud of her hard work and why should she be? She has earned it. Meryl has never been afraid to address sexism or admit that it took her a long time to overcome her insecurities. She is one of the most positive female role models in history and an all-around inspiration – so much so that NYC deemed May 27th Meryl Streep Day! AMAZING. Definitely my new favorite holiday.

    Ellen Degeneres

Ed1She is easily one of the most impactful women of our time. Ellen is confident, caring and strives to constantly put a smile on the face of anyone and everyone. She appeals to the masses, always delivering a positive message and always practicing what she preaches. Focused on investing in children and the future, she is always making strides to help society advance and benefit. EVERYONE loves Ellen!

    Erin Andrews

    ea1

Not only does she have proven success flourishing in a male dominated industry, this sportscaster has recently made huge progress in standing up for the security and protection of women. After several years of perusing a massive lawsuit, she finally won the case, showing that by not backing down when you are a victim of ANY type of sexual crime against women, you can raise awareness and help others get the justice they deserve. GIRL POWER!

    Angelina Jolie

    angelina-jolie-060415-624x451

This incredible actress, humanitarian, and one of our favorite women in Hollywood, proves that using your fame to help others is one of the most rewarding roles you can play in the world. Jolie is frequently using her platform to lead heavy charitable activations and serve as an advocate for women. She has been extremely open with a wide range of social topics such as her battle with breast cancer and the adoption of 3 children from other countries… Basically, she is killing it as a woman devoted to helping others, leading by example. She is totally bad-ass!

    Ginni Rometty

grThis woman is proof that females can conquer the corporate world, become CEO’s of companies and run a successful business AT ANY AGE. Rometty, 58, currently holds the position(s) of President, Chairman, and CEO at IBM. Technology is a multi-billion dollar industry and one that heavily influences every other industry in the world. Being in a position of power certainly shows great signs of women evolving. Go us!

Basically.. women that rule, make men drool. So let’s keep doing our thing! Say it with me… Who runs the world? GIRLS.
