How the Christmas Holidays Affected Businesses [Infographic]

    The Christmas period can affect all sorts of businesses, such as Retail, Charities and the food industry. Firstly, retail, the difference in spending round the Christmas period is quite incredible. Online Christmas spending is set to increase 11.8% compared to last year. There is a massive 51.1% increase for the week of Christmas. When Christmas arrives and if you are involved in retail you know you hours are going to be a lot longer. Staff will work longer hours over the Christmas period, with some expected to work Christmas eve and Boxing day.

    Next, how Christmas holidays affects charities. This change is most definitely for the better around the festive period. 38% of people are more likely to donate to a good cause running up to Christmas. A Christmas donation is now worth around £43 compared to an average donation through 2016 which was £18. Finally, how the Christmas holidays affect food industry, an estimated £20.6 billion was spent by UK shoppers for Christmas in 2016. Around 42,000 chefs, 22,000 kitchen assistants and 15,00 waiting staff will be working pubs, hotels and restaurants on Christmas day.
