In the wake of the latest prequel adaptation, Pan breaking box office numbers, we reminisce about the classic retelling of one of our childhood favorites grown up. The 1991 Steven Spielberg movie Hook featured a multi-star studded cast comprising of Robin Williams, Dustin Hoffman, Julia Roberts, Dame Maggie Smith, and Bob Hoskins. We all know what these Hollywood heavyweights may have been up to since they filmed Hook… Sadly, Robin Williams is no longer with us. But we are very curious about some of the child cast members of the film. They not only brought to life the characters they played on screen but also impressed us with their spontaneity and enthusiasm. We here at New Theory Magazine wanted to know what exactly the lost boys have been up to since leaving Neverland!

Charlie gave up acting after Hook and concentrated on academics.

He studied physics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and went on to work for the Environmental Protection Agency, the House of Representatives where he was into policy decision-making, and a committee under the Homeland Security after 9/11.

Charlie then studied law and graduated from the Yale Law School. He served as a clerk at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, worked for Sullivan & Cromwell as a litigation specialist, and taught at the Brooklyn Law School. He now teaches corporate law at the Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. However, he did throw us a bone plotting a nerd’s revenge in the cult teen-comedy Can’t Hardly Wait!

    Amber Scott (as Maggie Banning)

After Hook, Amber Scott worked as a voice actor for a brief period before leaving show business. She graduated from the Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut in 2006 where she was a member of the Delta Psi Epsilon.

Hook was his debut film and since then, James Madio has had a successful acting career. He has appeared in a string of films, like Hero, Band of Brothers, and The Basketball Diaries that starred Leonardo DiCaprio and Mark Wahlberg. He has recently acted in episodes of Ringer and The Finder. Most recently you can catch a glimpse of him in the Broadway hit turned Clint Eastwood success, Jersey Boys, chronicling the rise of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons.

    Isaiah Robinson (as Pockets)

After Hook, Isaiah Robinson has just one acting credit. He worked as an adult actor in the 2005 indie movie Dead at the Box Office. He has concentrated on music and made a career out of it. After graduating from the Kenwood Academy in Chicago, Isaiah studied musical and stage performance at the Columbia College.

He is an accomplished vocalist. He has performed with Aretha Franklin, The Barrett sisters, R-Kelly, Rene Marie, Joan Collaso, Kelvin Lenox, Chaka Khan, and many other noted musicians. He was a featured vocalist at the inauguration of Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and has sung in Katrina Ballads and an opera The Difficulty of Crossing a Field.

Isaiah is right now a teaching artist at the Lookingglass Theater. He regularly performs with the Stu Hirsch Orchestra and the Silent Theater. He continues his association with the Chicago Children’s Choir. He works as a musician, organist, and Choir Master and also coordinates workshops for them.

A young Gwyneth Paltrow was also a part of the ensemble cast of Hook, but you know all about her. Many child cast members of Hook, like Charlie Korsmo and Isaiah Robinson, have discovered their passions in other fields. Some like James Madio has carved out an enviable niche in the acting world while Raushan Hammond is admirably juggling careers as an actor and a magician. The Lost Boys of Hook have definitely found a place for themselves in the adult world.
