When it comes to makeup, I’m all for the more the merrier, however, not everyone feels the same way exactly. In certain atmospheres, like the gym or the beach, wearing makeup is almost frowned-upon. But, do you really care what people think? Good, you shouldn’t.
While it’s important for everyone to be comfortable in their own skin and embrace their natural beauty, there’s also absolutely nothing wrong with having a little pick-me-up. So even if that means wearing a little makeup to the beach when the rest of your friends are going au-natural, go for it. After all, confidence is key, and if rocking a little natural glam is going to boost yours, why not?!
But, on the flip-side, let’s be real for a minute: as much as we might want to think we don’t care all that much what others think, we still have to admit that at least a little part of us does. So what’s a makeup lover supposed to do at the beach? Fake it until you make it.
Although you would never be caught dead hitting up the club without your winged liner perfectly in tact, when it comes to a day at the beach, your beauty routine becomes a completely different story.
For beach-friendly makeup, the key is to make it look as natural as possible, and if you don’t know where to start, don’t worry — we’ve got you covered.
First thing’s first — we’re sure you know this by now, but the beach is HOT, which means bullet-proof makeup is about to become your best friend.
What you’ll need:
1. Waterproof everything.
Whether it’s your lashes or your brows, load them up with waterproof formulas. Even if you aren’t planning on going for a swim, trust us, when you start sweating (which you will), you’ll thank us.
2. Products with SPF.
When it comes to looking flawless, there’s no denying that we all want to look forever young. Wrinkles? Sun spots? I think we can all agree that we have no room (or tolerance) for any of that on our faces. This being said, beauty products with SPF are about to be your new best friend at the beach. Not only will they have your skin looking perfect throughout the day, but they’ll help protect it to ensure it stays that way long after. Seriously, sun damage is no joke, so investing in a BB cream with SPF is by far your best bet.
3. Pucker up with a lip stain.
Although reapplying lip gloss happens to be one of my personal favorite pastimes, ain’t nobody got time for that when you’re trying to enjoy some fun in the sun. If you want to add some color to your lips, a lip stain is for sure the way to go. Pop your favorite one on, and forget about it, because no matter what, it’ll be there to stay all day.
4. Makeup setting spray.
After loading on all of your makeup, the last step is to lock it in place — seriously, you can’t just let all of that hard work go to waste! Finish off your look by misting your face with a makeup setting spray.
Voilá, you are officially ready to slay your beach day.
