Climate change has reached a crisis point as we near the end of 2019 with our technologies affecting the ozone layer and causing the world to heat up, but how has new technology helped to prevent this ongoing problem and reduce the use of fossil fuels on a daily basis? In this article, we will be looking into how new technology is working to prevent environmental damage whilst providing the same level of efficiency.

    Solar Panels

One of the biggest developments in cleaner energy in recent years has been the implementation of solar panels. This style of technology has worked to harness the power of the sun to lessen our reliance on the national grid. As this style of technology has become commercially available there have been a number of them installed on homes as well as solar panel farms around to great energy in a way that is completely sustainable and lessen our reliance on fossil fuels.

    Increased Efficiency

In addition to this, a number of mining tools such as a surface drilling rig by Sandvik have been specifically designed to run efficiently on half the amount of energy that previous mining equipment needs. This is evident in other sectors also as a number of cars have either been converted into fully electric models or are specially designed to run much more efficiently and reduce carbon emissions. Though this will not singly handily reverse the damage being done to the environment, this is helping to restrict the CO2 emissions in the atmosphere. Though this is only the beginning step in reducing the amount of energy that is being used, this can lead to huge technological breakthroughs in the future.

    Wastewater Treatment

Though this technology has been around for a number of years now, there have been slight alterations to the current system to provide a more in-depth cleaning experience. With membrane filtration techniques as well as nanotechnology, drinking water can be created from wastewater helping to clean polluted water supplies. Though this is a costly process, this can remove the trace of pollution in oceans and rivers as well as making water drinkable allowing for water to be reused again and again.

    Hydro-electric Power

The final technology that is preventing the damage done to the environment is hydro-electric power. With motors below waterfalls and the waves, the kinetic energy of the water movement is then generated into electricity to power homes and other machinery within the chain. Though this does require more time to create the same amount of power, this is a sustainable source of energy that lessens dependencies on fossil fuels and power stations. As this type of technology becomes more popular, there is set to be further developments made to double the amount of energy made from every movement, making this an exciting time to be in the development of this sort of technology.

Whether you are currently looking to invest in some of this greener technology or you are looking to reduce your carbon footprint as we head into 2020, greener technology is definitely worth the investment.
