When it comes to our skin, let’s face it, we all want to look fresh and forever young, right?! Luckily, face masks have got us covered, but brace yourself, because they’re about to take things a step further…
Not only can a good face mask work wonders on your complexion, but get this — there’s some that are literally good enough to eat. Yup, you read that right!
So, if this weekend you and your gal pals just don’t feel like hitting the club, no worries, because whipping up some yummy tasting edible face masks is the perfect activity for a girls’ night in.
Just check out a few recipes below, pour up some wine, put aside what you need for your face mask, and indulge in the rest! Oh, and don’t forget to thank us later!
Chocolate Coffee Face Mask
1 cup milk chocolate
1/4 cup brewed coffee
1 tbsp of fresh cream
Melt 1 cup milk of chocolate and 1/4 cup brewed coffee together (optional: you can also add in 1 tbsp of fresh cream). Mix well and make sure you allow it to cool. When it’s warm enough, apply it to your skin with your fingertips. Leave on for 15 minutes and then rinse it off using warm water!
Not only will you love eating the leftovers that you didn’t put on your skin, but your face will love the part that you did! Caffeine is great for your skin, and since coffee is an antioxidant that stimulates new cell growth, this chocolate coffee face mask is a must-try!
Antioxidant Boosting Blueberry Face Mask
1 tub blueberries
1/2 tub yogurt
2 tablespoons honey
Just mix these three ingredients together, plop them on your face, and you’ll instantly be boost circulation and pumping more vitamin A and C into your skin! Plus, merely adding some granola into the mix will make for a great healthy (and tasty) snack!
Pumpkin Pie Face Mask
1 1/4 cups pumpkin puree
3/4 cup sugar or honey
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon or nutmeg
2 eggs, lightly beaten
1 cup evaporated milk, undiluted or 1/4 cup milk powder
2 tablespoons water
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons cream or yogurt
Not only does pumpkin pie taste delicious at Thanksgiving, but it’s also good for your skin all year round!
Blend the above ingredients together well, apply to your skin with your fingertips, and let it sit on your face for 10 to 15 minutes before washing off with warm water. And, don’t forget to watch this recipe work wonders — after all, it contains antioxidants and acne treatment properties! Win-win!
Avocado and Honey Mask
1/4 cup honey
Simple and sweet, this avocado and honey mask only uses two delicious ingredients — avocado and honey!
Just mash the avocado in a blow and stir in 1/4 cup of honey and you’re good to go! Let the mask sit on your skin for about 10 minutes before washing it off with a cool washcloth.
Since the avocado and honey are both rich in nutrients and healing properties, this mask will work wonders to moisturize, rejuvenate and hydrate your skin. Now that’s what we call a triple threat.
Strawberry Sorbet Facial Mask
1 cup of fresh strawberries
1 tablespoon honey
1/2 cup Greek yogurt
Just pop the ingredients into your blender for 20 seconds and voilá!
To use as a face mask: Apply the mixture to your skin for ten minutes, then wash off with lukewarm water, and you’ll instantly feel refreshed!
To eat: Pour the mixture into a container, freeze for 1 hour, and then dig in, because you’ve got yourself one yummy sorbet!
