Whether he’s stealing mics and causing scenes at award shows, going off on wild rants and losing his sh*t on Twitter, or announcing his potential presidential candidacy for 2020 (#PrayForAmerica), there’s only one thing for sure that I know about Kanye West — the man has no filter.
While I respect the fact that Yeezy isn’t afraid to speak his mind and that he’s his number one fan, the man also scares the living sh*t out of me. Why? Because they say that all things are good in moderation, and I say that Kanye West has NONE. Literally, zero.
Not only has Ye written a song called “I Am God,” and refers to himself as Yeezus on the regular, but the man is also so in awe of his own “wisdom” that he calls his beliefs Kanye-ism… alrighty then.
Although there’s absolutely no denying that Mr. West goes a bit preachy and psychotic from time to time, I have to admit that there have been some occasions where he has made pretty valid points…
When he emphasized how important it is to live in the moment:
“We’re all gonna die one day. So, live like that. Live like you could die tomorrow. You know? Go for it.” -Kanye West, BBC Radio Interview, 2013
“If you have the opportunity to play this game of life you need to appreciate every moment. A lot of people don’t appreciate the moment until it’s passed.” -Kanye West, 47th Annual Grammy speech
When he didn’t apologize for doing what made him happy, regardless of how it looked to others:
“I refuse to accept other people’s ideas of happiness for me. As if there’s a ‘one size fits all’ standard for happiness.” -Kanye West
When he explained that without risk, there’s no reward:
“Criticism can bother you, but you should be more concerned if there’s no criticism. That means you’re too safe.” -Kanye West, radio interview, 2008
When he showed us how powerful it is just to believe in yourself:
“I always felt like I could do anything. That’s the main thing people are controlled by! Thoughts- their perception of themselves! They’re slowed down by their perception of themselves. If you’re taught you can’t do anything, you won’t do anything.” -Kanye West, BBC Radio Interview, 2013
When he addressed how much of a waste of time it is to be a hater:
“We got a hundred years. We’re one race, the human race. We’re one civilization. We’re a blip in the existence of the universe and we constantly trying to pull each other down; not doing things to help each other.” -Kanye West on Ellen DeGeneres 2016
And, as far as all of the out-there sh*t that he says goes, there’s a chance that even that can be justified:
“You should only believe about 90 percent of what I say. As a matter of fact, don’t even believe anything that I’m saying at all. I could be completely f*cking with you and the world the entire time.” -Kanye West, W Magazine, 2013
MIND = BLOWN.
Maybe Kanye-ism isn’t so crazy after all…
