After months of lockdowns, quarantines, and only leaving homes for essential supplies, the world is finally starting to slowly get back to normal amidst the COVID19 crisis. While the pandemic is far from over and we’re still waiting on a vaccine, social distancing measures are working so far and we’re seeing many countries around the world start to recover from the damage. If you’ve been missing traveling during the pandemic, the good news is that there are plenty of destinations ready to open back up and welcome visitors once again. Things might be a little different with social distancing measures in place, but most of us are just excited to explore again.
Italy:
Italy was one of the hardest-hit countries by the coronavirus and quickly became the epicenter of the outbreak after the virus moved from China. Now, Italy is finally getting back to normal and undoubtedly, they want to get the economy back on track too. This summer, you’ll be able to visit Rome, Florence, Venice, Milan and many of your other favorite Italian destinations as the country comes out the other end of the crisis.
Spain:
Another hugely popular travel destination, Spain’s normally-packed streets, and beaches were eerily quiet and empty as the entire country went into lockdown following spikes of COVID19 infections. But, things in Spain are looking like they’re getting back to normal again, with many of the most popular Spanish destinations set to reopen to tourists again this summer. Maybe you won’t have to miss out on those parties in Ibiza, or exploring the streets of Barcelona after all. Why not celebrate with a rail trip through Spain; get your tickets from the Rail.Ninja train tickets service.
France:
France is slowly reopening its borders to tourists, so if you wanted to enjoy some romance in Paris this year, you’re in luck. However, bear in mind that there are still some travel restrictions when visiting France, and visitors from certain countries may need to self-isolate for 14 days upon arrival; double-check this before you plan a short trip as you might not be able to enjoy it otherwise.
Germany:
One country that received a lot of praise in the way it handled the coronavirus outbreak was Germany, with some of the lowest death tolls around the world and a well-managed lockdown and track and trace system put in place quickly to flatten the curve. This summer, Germany is set to open its borders once again, and with everything to see from the urban jungle that is Berlin to the countryside of Bavaria, there’s something for every type of traveler here.
Iceland:
This gorgeous country is now reopened to tourists, so if you wanted to try and catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights this year, you might still get the chance. Travelers will need to be tested for COVID19 upon arrival into the country, so it’s worth getting yourself tested before you go if you can. Otherwise, you can forfeit the test and choose to self-isolate for 14 days instead.
Where will you be visiting post-pandemic?
