Do We Need a Degree to Succeed in The Business World? – The Story of Jared Maples

Deciding what is more important, formal education or experience is a tricky question nowadays. Many businesses require potential employees to have a college degree but at the same time, they expect them to have some professional experience. It is no wonder it seems that we are trapped in a vicious circle. One cannot get a job without experience and there is no way to get that experience without a job.

Yes, for certain careers you do need formal education and a college degree. You cannot just get up one morning, decide that you want to be a heart surgeon, get employed and start performing surgeries the next day. However, nowadays, it is not necessary to have a degree in order to become a successful business owner and Jared Maples is the living proof of that.

At a young age, Jared realized that he didn’t need a formal education to make his vision come true. At just 18 years of age, he took the chance, dropped out of college and entered the business world. We can freely say that that risk was worth taking, since, today, he and his wife run an organization of close to 30,000 customers and distributors all over the world.

Due to his life experience, Jared has an opinion when it comes to formal education in 2019. As you can imagine, he doesn’t believe it to be necessary if one has a great business plan and leadership skills. He says that all one needs is a desire to succeed and a vision. Everything else can be found online. This is when he likes to quote Tony Robbins – “You don’t lack resources, you simply lack resourcefulness”.

Besides running a prosperous business, Jared is a frequent keynote speaker at different events. He often jokes that he got his Bachelor’s degree from Google and his Masters from YouTube. His goal is to help people understand that today there is so much they can do and learn on their own. That instead of spending their early 20s learning things they are not interested in or that they probably won’t even need in the future, they should gather the courage and embark on the journey to become an entrepreneur or whatever they want to be.

He goes on to say that young people are in a way privileged because the solutions to all of their problems are only a few clicks away. Jared has encountered his share of failures at the beginning, but he found a way to learn from his experience and turn it into something positive, and that is what he helps others do.

To sum up, if you have found yourself at the crossroad, and don’t know which path to take, maybe you should watch some of Jared’s speeches because no one can deny his success.
