Traveling as a lifestyle

Want to be a traveler? Being a traveler is a lifestyle. It sounds easy but it’s not. It’s not about going somewhere or knowing hundreds of places in the world. It is about learning to inhabit the places that we visit, to integrate and unite with the environment, food, aroma and habits that give life to every city, forest, beach or city that we tread.

A tourist is a person who travels when he has the possibility (holidays, money, conditions, etc.) and that may change for a while, for one or two weeks, but in essence, his life is still intact when he returns to routine.

A traveler, on the other hand, is a person who has a flexible spirit so he knows how to blend in with every goal he decides to explore. As my mother will say: to the earth you are headed for, do what you see. He likes how he prepares supplies, he knows about the best carry on luggage, he understands how to enter a country with a variety of entrances, he likes how he can get along with local residents and so on.

I consider myself a traveler even though I don’t travel. How is that? Let me explain!

For me traveling is a lifestyle that, even in my hometown, can determine the decisions that I make every day. What I think must be brought together, along with my passport and backpack, is the anxious curiosity and that in our daily lives we also should not rest.

So, even though I lived in Luton 11 years ago, every time I walked through his parks, or opened a new cafe or event arrived in the neighborhood, I went to the streets to enjoy it as if I was traveling, with enthusiasm and same energy.

The same thing happens to food. In every city market one can find a different feeling and feel that he is traveling through many angles, even if he hasn’t moved from his own environment.

Another way to travel is through gastronomy, therefore, if you have the opportunity to live in a cosmopolitan city, one day you can visit Thailand, other Indonesia, India, China, Lebanon, Spain, France, Portugal or Argentina. A person can go anywhere with the palate.

Don’t get depressed if you don’t go on vacation this summer! Well, if you experience a unique experience through your senses, you can always have a traveler’s lifestyle. The same thing through food such as with music, dance, museums, sports, or cultural activities.

Open your own mind and enjoy all the new experiences your environment has to offer, the same if you are traveling than if you were in your home city.

Every taste, every cocktail, every beer, mezcal, tequila or pulque can be a special experience. Don’t miss this by always doing the same thing, innovating and discovering, it is the spirit of traveling and living within you, even if you have not been able to leave your city.
