Meet The Twins Who Are Killing The New England Fashion Scene

Katie and Ashley Hess of The Party of Two have taken the fashion world by storm. They’re one of the most stylish twins to follow on Instagram and are challenging New England’s conservative fashion standards with their unique take on fashion.

“The blog started back in 2013 from our friends suggesting we do something with the amount of time we spend on our outfits,” Katie said.

“Boston is very traditional…and what we offer is a different option,” Ashley added.

Since then, they’ve been channeling their personal style and reporting on the latest trends.
Katie describes her style as more feminine—not polka dots and pink, but is more into vintage shopping, and finding pieces inspired by eras past. Ashley identifies more with street style and is a self-proclaimed sneakerhead.

The twins recently shared a post about bringing out the ankle boots ahead of fall, and they do it perfectly. It’s all about transition pieces this time of year, because as much as we hate to admit, fall is coming right around the corner.

“The key is wearing shoes that are light, airy, and comfortable,” Katie said. Ashley and Katie also shared their favorite staple items that they think everyone should have in their closet.

“If we’re going predictable, black denim. But if we’re going the unpredictable route, I’d say a vintage bag that’s unique and speaks to you right then and there,” Katie said.

“I go from heels to sneakers—there’s no in between,” Ashley said, “But I’d say a statement shoe, and a comfortable sneaker that you can wear anywhere.”

But Katie’s biggest tip was making sure that the clothes fit you well. “I’m 5’4,” so even if a see a trend that I love, but it doesn’t fit me right, I won’t buy it.”

Their influence extends beyond the fashion world, however, as they share their Insta-worthy smoothie bowls with their followers. The twins share a love for cooking and staying healthy, and enjoy cooking meals for their family.

“It really started in Paris, where our diet turned to more fresh fruits and vegetables,” Katie shared. The twins are both pescatarians, which means they both eat fish, and once they started incorporating more vegetables in their diet, they started noticing changes in their body—they were feeling a lot better about it.

While Katie identifies as more of a cook than Ashley and said that she loves Chef’s Table on Netflix. One of their favorite healthy meals right now are smoothie bowls, where they feel is the best way to get your protein in for the day.

They love incorporating greens into their smoothie bowls, especially spinach and kale. They top it off with fruits that are in season, different seeds, superfoods, and of course some crunchy granola.
