Erin Andrews Wins ‘Peeping Tom’ Lawsuit

Back in 2009, Erin Andrews, Fox Sports Caster and Dancing With The Stars host, filed a $75 million dollar lawsuit against a Nashville Marriott and owners,  West End Hotel Partners, for negligence, emotional distress and invasion of privacy.

In 2008, Andrews checked into the Nashville Marriott and was recorded in her hotel room-naked, by her long-time stalker, Illinois native, Michael David Barrett. According to the NY Times, Barret admittedly “used a hacksaw to alter the peepholes of Andrews’s hotel rooms in Nashville and Columbus, OH.”  Later in 2009, Barret leaked the videos on the internet and they spread like wildfire.

Andrews believes that the incident could have been avoided if the the hotel staff took proper precautions when a phone call came in asking for her room number. Disclosing the information to Barret is what ultimately set his plans in motion.

The jury awarded Andrews $55 million and sympathized, reportedly embracing her with open arms and asking her for autographs when the trial was over, according to Yahoo.

Andrews took to twitter and expressed her gratitude as justice was served.

Barret was sentenced to two and a half years in prison and owes $28 Million in over-all damages alongside Nashville Marriott and West End Hotel Partners owing roughly $26 Million.
