7 DIY Face Masks That Will Change Your Life

    In an ideal world, spa nights and weekend getaways would be our hobbies of choice, but seeing as we lead busy city lives, (where 24 hours just aren’t enough) sometimes we need to get a little creative. A woman’s beauty routine is of the utmost importance no matter what her schedule is like, which is why we’ve made it easy for you with these DIY face mask recipes. Not to seem too superficial, but our faces are what first represent us in the eyes of the public. Of course true beauty lies on the inside, but why can’t the outside look amazing too? We tried these face masks at home and the results – no lie – were so incredible we wish we had done this sooner. The best part? All of the ingredients you need are right in the first isle of your supermarket. 

    Fresh Faced Avocado

    Ingredients:

    • 1/2 ripe avocado
    • 1 teaspoon plain organic yogurt
    • 1 teaspoon of honey
    • 1 tbs olive oil

    Avocado is hot right now guys! With this deep moisturizing mask, your city-stressed skin with feel smoother and fresher than ever before. The trick is to mash the avocado until it’s soft and then mix in the yogurt, oil and honey until you get a paste. Apply this (may we say, yummy) mixture to your face and leave it on for about 10 or 15 minutes. Feel the vitamins sink into your skin as your pores get revitalized. This sweet guac mask is a game-changer. 

    Antioxidant Dream

    Ingredients:

    • 1/2 a ripe papaya—peeled, seeded, and sliced
    • 1/2 teaspoon honey
    • 1/4 teaspoon lemon or lime juice

    Highly rich in antioxidants, papaya’s enzymes help eliminate old, dry skin cells, making skin feel fresh and healthy. As a beauty product, tropical fruit is better known for its rejuvenating qualities and is sure to make your complexion glow after just a few minutes of applying. The technique? In a blender, puree the papaya and other ingredients until the mix is smooth and even. Spread over your face and let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes before rinsing off with water. Magic? No, papaya.

    Egg White Purity For The Pores

    Ingredients:

    • 1 egg whites
    • 1 teaspoon of orange juice
    • 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder

    For the oily skin gals out there, this baby is a must. The protein inside egg whites tightens pores and washes away acne-causing bacteria. Mixed with a hot dose of vitamin C and turmeric, this is the perfect mask to erase those unwanted imperfections and brighten your complexion. Whisk all the ingredients together, smear evenly over your face and leave on for 15 minutes – until it hardens – before washing. Bye forever blackheads!

    Caffeinated Perfection

    Ingredients:

    • 2 tablespoons freshly ground coffee
    • 2 tablespoons pure cocoa powder
    • 1 tablespoon honey
    • 3 tablespoons yogurt or sour cream

    Coffee just does it all. In this max, the caffeine from coffee grounds helps to reduce swelling and puffiness. The cocoa powder helps reduce aging – and smoothen wrinkles – and the yogurt hydrates the pores. Blend all these goodies together, spread evenly over skin and let it to sit for about 10 minutes. To exfoliate, massage your face gently with the leftover mask while rinsing. 

    Exfoliating Sweetness

    Ingredients:

    • 2 tablespoons of honey
    • 2 tablespoons of nutmeg
    • 2 teaspoons of milk

    We all know that honey is one of the most common ingredients in beauty, possibly because it’s soothing a delicious, but also because it naturally kills of the bacteria that causes acne! Adding nutmeg to this mask makes it a gentle exfoliator ideal for sensitive skin. Mix the ingredients well and leave it on for 10 or 15 minutes before rinsing. We be you’ll feel rejuvenated. 

    It’s Vino Time

    Ingredients:

    • 1 cup plain yogurt
    • 1 tbsp. honey
    • 4-5 tbsp. red wine

    For a while now it’s been know that red wine has more uses than just bringing us joy after a long day of work. Due to its antioxidant qualities, red wine also makes for a great ingredient in beauty products. Mix with honey yogurt and you’ve got the ultimate detox max to end the day off right. Distribute evenly over your face and leave on for about 7 minutes. Enjoy a glass of wine while you’re at it, can’t hurt. 

    Chocolate Paradise For The Soul

    Ingredients:

    • 1/2 cup of cocoa powder
    • 3 tablespoons of oats
    • 4 tablespoons of cream
    • 1/4 cup of honey

    Dark chocolate makes us happy, and apparently it makes our skin happy too.  When used as a beauty product, chocolate’s antioxidants serve boost out their anti-aging properties and spark the production of collagen. Place the ingredients in a blender and blend until the mixture is even. Leave it on for 10 minutes and rinse. Like dessert for the soul, no?
